Christopher Bowlin, DPM
Wound Care Specialist, Foot & Ankle Repair and Reconstruction
Dr. Chris Bowlin has a thriving podiatry practice in Knoxville, TN. He completed his professional training at University of Louisville with a 3-year Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency with Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Certification. He specializes in limb salvage, deformity correction, and lower extremity wound care. His straightforward treatment philosophy is centered around comprehensive foot and ankle care and evidence-based medicine. He started SWCA-TN after recognizing a growing need for surgical wound care within his own podiatry practice. His goal is to make wound care more accessible, while also working collaboratively with patients’ care teams to expedite healing and prevent wound recurrences. He enjoys traveling and being active outdoors.

Benjamin Fortson, DPM
Wound Care Specialist, Fellowship trained Limb Salvage/Preservation Surgeon.
Dr. Benjamin Fortson DPM joins us from Chicago IL with a strong and unique academic background. Dr. Fortson completed his undergraduate degree in Health Science at Benedictine University in Lisle IL. From there he went on to earn his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University. Following his formal education Dr. Fortson completed a three-year long residency at Jesse Brown VA in Chicago IL, where he was trained in complex limb salvage, foot and ankle reconstruction, and diabetic foot care. It was in residency that his passion for limb slave was ignited, and from there he went on to do a rigorous yearlong fellowship in complex limb salvage and plastic surgery reconstruction at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas Texas. Dr. Fortson is a Navy Veteran and has served in the United States Navy Ceremonial Guard as a Casket Bearer where is primary responsibilities were performing funeral honors in Arlington National Cemetery. He was also a part of the Dover dignified transfers team, and performed high profile ceremonies with foreign diplomats, the President of the United States, and all Joint Chiefs of Staff. He has also served as a crane operator with Navy Cargo Handling Battalion 13, and the primary medical representative for Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 25.
Dr. Fortson resides in Tucson with his wife where he enjoys an active lifestyle including hiking, cycling and fitness training.
Brian Burnett, DNP, APN, FNP-C
Wound Care Specialist
Brian Burnett earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from East Tennessee State University and certification as a Family Nurse with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. He has over 20 years of experience in the Emergency Room and Inpatient Hospital setting. As a Hospitalist, Brian has developed an understanding of chronic wounds and the etiology that causes them. The guiding premise of Brian’s healthcare approach is knowing that the patient is complex, variable, and unique. As an Advanced Practice Clinician (APC), his mission is to use evidenced-based practice in concert with patient-centered collaboration to improve patient outcomes.
Jennifer Carlile FNP-C, APN
Wound Care Specialist
She then spent 11 years providing comprehensive care as a primary care provider in a community-based outpatient facility. This has led her to an in-depth understanding of the complex nature of wound healing and the pathophysiology of wound genesis. She has a passion for wholistic care and utilizing evidenced-based practice to help patients heal. When she’s not working, she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.
